• UPDATED FINAL PROJECT SHEET, project4_100-book-description
  • UPDATED CLASS SCHEDULE, print+media_schedule_0419

    • Th, 4/17: rough draft of book due + noted by me, feedback session, review exporting + uploading, some work time, tweak books over weekend
    • Tu, 4/23: Final chance for feedback + work day, required blog entry for in-class listen, chapter 8 of Imagine on creative capital, grit + meta-ideas
    • Th, 4/25: share final uploads + party, (order on your own time + have it ordered to your summer stomping grounds)
  • I  heard back from Tim at Durra-Print (the local printer that we visited). $40 for each of the books (I asked about a 6×6″ 80 lbs (soft cover), 48 pages, 4-color, perfect binding…also a 12×12″ and a 10×7″. As feared, they are not set up to do print-on-demand. Blurb is. Prices are as follows for a 64-page soft cover book (first price is for 20 pages) then I added 44 more pages for final price in bold. Also incorporated 20% off (use code MOMSDAY20 by May 2 or APRIL15 by 4/30), then +tax (probably off pre-discount so numbers migh be skewed), +shipping = final prices in red.
    • 7 x 7″: $12.99 + ($0.15 * 44 or $6.60) = $19.59 * 20% off = $15.67 + $7.99 (shipping (May 2)) + $1.10 (.07% tax guessing) = $24.75
    • 10 x 7″: $19.99 + ($0.20 * 44 or $8.80) = $28.79 * 20% off = $23.03 + $7.99 (shipping (May 2)) + $1.61 (.07% tax guessing) = $32.63
    • 12 x 12″ hmmm…not available in softcover and expensive…student might want to rethink that one…Durra-prints prices are not looking too bad after all, few day turn around and you could stop by and look at the proofs…
  • For more pricing information: http://www.blurb.com/pricing (after submission, 8 business days, on their shipping page, they say 7-11!)
  • The other good think about Blurb is that you can tell someone to just google your name and the title of the book, and if it’s set to preview, they can check it out. So many of you are understandable concerned about your online presence, and it seems having that Blurb book in place will help so…
  • I think we should adjust the schedule to the following, based on the progress I’ve seen so far, I think we should just review the uploaded books on the last day.
